An Extraordinary meeting of Bigbury Parish Council will be scheduled for Thursday 26th January, starting time 19:30, venue Bigbury Memorial Hall.
There will be just one topic – Planning proposal 4097/16/OPA
Proposed development site at SX 663 471 St Anns Chapel Bigbury
Outline application with some matters reserved for residential development of circa 8 dwellings, open space and associated infrastructure with all matters reserved
except for means of access (and associated off-site highway works)
The proposed development of land behind the Old Bakery and other houses at StAnn’s Chapel has been the subject of heated debate for a number of years. The previous application was turned down at appeal but the applicants have now come back with a revised scheme aimed at meeting earlier objections.
Comments for or against the proposal should be with SHDC by 3rd February 2017.
A public meeting was requested at the 11th Jan parish council meeting to provide more information and to discuss the application.
The new scheme would involve building a new road around the development to reach Challaborough and Ringmore to provide safer pedestrian access to local facilities. The scheme would be likely to have a major impact on traffic movement around StAnn’s Chapel as well as on traffic flow towards Bigbury village.

Agenda item 5. Steve Radford, Manager, Park Dean holiday camp has informed the council that he is no longer able to attend tonight’s meeting. An alternative date for his contribution is to be arranged.

As many in the parish know, we have been relentlessly working to get acceptable broadband speeds into Bigbury on Sea and Bigbury since moving here for over a year now and have an update for the parish which we feel could do with another meeting/immediate notice in the parish magazine, as this is of great importance.
We gave up dealing with Matt Barrow, ( the chap who attended the meeting with a BT engineer), and now deal directly with Sofie Francis at Devon council who has kept us up to date with what’s going on.
Last week, Sofie informed us on the latest bad and good news – which ever way you view it. However, the update is that BT are no longer involved and a new company has secured the contract – Gigaclear.com
They will be bringing fibre ‘to the door’ and start the rollout in April BUT it is imperative to all Bigbury-on-Sea residents to register interest, as the more registrations they have from an area will dictate where they prioritise rolling fibre in first. We have made a strong business case for BOS to be prioritised in this 3 year rollout. The estimated speeds are fantastic, 1GB.
IF all residents complete the expression of interest NOW, we will have a very good chance of being 1st to be connected, which could mean mid year.
As we work full time, we don’t have the time to rally everyone together to get this so any suggestions to get this information out to the community asap is really quite urgent.
The link to register is here
http://www.gigaclear.com/communities/a030J00000XKlXvQAL/0010J00001jpYf0QAE
and it doesn’t cost anything to register.
Please note, we are relaying what the coordinator at Devon C.C. has told us to do to start the ball rolling.
Kind Regards,
Andrew and Debby Maguire
