This website has changed!
In response to the explosion in the use of social media and mobile communication tools since it was set up in 2011, this website has now changed to make the content much more accessible and responsive to mobile phones and tablet computers. The parish council has agreed to pay the necessary £150 to achieve this change and to ensure compliance with the UK government’s Transparency Code ( https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/transparency-code-for-smaller-authorities ) which became mandatory from 1st April 2015.
Beyond these changes in format, I hereby invite anybody with anything of interest to the Bigbury community to either post the content on the website themselves or to send it to me (as Site Administrator) to add to the site. The site has an under-used HELP facility on the HOMEPAGE and if you experience difficulty you can contact me through the CONTACT tab on the same page. If I can’t help, I know somebody who can! The more the site is used, the more valuable it will become for the exchange of news, views and information – in addition to the site’s main current role as a repository for information. For example, it is easy to set up a discussion FORUM for registered users of the site to mull over any topic and exchange views. The embryonic Neighbourhood Plan for the parish of Bigbury might be a suitable topic that would be certain to produce a variety of viewpoints which could help shape the final plan!
Although the current website has a surprisingly high ‘hit rate’ of about 10-20 visits per day (343 visits and 981 pages viewed during the 30 days prior to 11th November, 2015), it could be used far more extensively, both by individuals and by the various interest GROUPS that are already incorporated in the site’s content. So, please do what you can to help. It’s your site, let’s make it better!
The Bigbury War Memorial Unravelled
The next meeting of Bigbury’s History Society will be on Tuesday December 8th at 7.30 p.m. at the Memorial Hall.
The subject is both very local and topical. Committee member Norman Botton will be giving a talk on The Bigbury War Memorial Unravelled, a look at the military aspect of the Great War through the local people who died in the conflict.
Norman is a recently retired history professional and has prepared this talk to mark the Centenary of World War One.
A ‘GASTROBUS’ FOR BIGBURY-ON-SEA?

Click on the FORUM tab; select the relevant FORUM from the list presented; scroll down to the bottom of the GROUP page and add your comments.
