The Agenda for the PC meeting of 11th July 2012 is available in the DOCUMENTS section of the Bigbury Parish Council GROUP
Numbers were down a bit from last year but the 2012 Fun Run was still an excellent afternoon’s entertainment and fund-raising event for local causes.

Some entrants weren’t too bothered about their times but made an excellent splash of colour! This lot was caught pausing for refreshments in Ringmore by Mike Wynne-Powell. Do you recognise anybody?
Thank you, thank you! What a brilliant event Bigbury’s Diamond Jubilee celebration turned out to be! The weather was fine, if cool and breezy; the crowds turned out in their 100’s – massively bigger numbers than anticipated, reflecting the national mood of exuberance and sense of togetherness; the polished, highly professional performances on stage kept everybody entertained whilst we wined and dined, hovering over numerous fire pits and BBQs; and our own beacon and fireworks made a fitting contribution to the local network from villages all around the South Hams.
The organising committee, hosts, performers, donors and helpers deserve a huge vote of thanks from the community for making this such a smooth- running and enjoyable occasion that will be long remembered by all those participating.
Well done, one and all!
This Sunday, 20th MAY, the Olympic torch will go through Modbury.
It will start at the Industrial Estate just before 9.0 a.m., be carried through Modbury and transfer to a vehicle in the small lay-by just as you exit Modbury. It then goes along the A379 towards Kingsbridge.
Modbury Parish Council extends a welcome to any Bigbury resident who would like to witness the torch being carried through Modbury.
ON the other hand…….
The Torch will be in Kingsbridge around 9:38am and the Town Council have an event planned around the Bandstand for the rest of the morning. There will be ‘mini-games’ for the children and the Kingsbridge Police Cadets (in full uniform) are providing support around the Torch when it stops at the Bandstand for press and TV coverage!!
The video on the following ‘youtube’ link shows just how desperate some people are to get to Burgh Island despite rough weather (note the empty car park!). The sea tractor is clearly very well constructed and more stable than it might appear.
Other videos on the same site offer some magnificent views from Burgh Island, showing Challaborough and Bigbury on Sea.
The combined agendas for the AGM of the PC and the Annual Parish Meeting, 2012, can be found in the DOCUMENTS section of the Bigbury Parsi Council GROUP.
