As part of a South Hams crime prevention initiative, the Police in the South Hams area would like to take this opportunity to remind you all of the following. If you have a shed, garage or outbuilding make sure that all doors are left locked and secure, that there is adequate lighting and, if possible, use a shed alarm. It is also important to keep serial numbers of any identifiable equipment. These serial numbers can then be recorded on www.immobilise.com for added security. If you require any further advice please contact your neighbourhood policing team who can give information on how to keep homes, property and vehicles safe and secure. Thank you.
We are entering a further period where severe freezing road temperatures will persist across parts of the county from tomorrow, with road temperatures potentially falling to -8°C in places on Wednesday night.
No further significant rain or snow is likely during the period until possibly the weekend.
The last weekend showers will have left some runoff in places and therefore there is the potential for icy patches. Beware Stakes Road and Duke’s Mill, especially!
Overnight frosts are likely in many parts of the county and road temperatures will struggle to rise much above freezing during the day especially where there is shade.
The Meteogroup 2-5 day forecast is as follows:
2-5 day weather summary
On Tuesday afternoon, a few sunny spells but with bands of quite extensive cloud moving westwards. The chance of a light wintry shower, but most places will stay dry. Much colder air will move in from the east on Tuesday night with clear spells becoming widespread. Road Surface Temperatures (RSTs) falling well below zero with a risk of ice and hoar frost. High pressure will develop to the north-east of the UK on Wednesday, bringing a very cold easterly flow, with high pressure then settling over southern England on Thursday. Mostly dry, settled and very cold on Wednesday. Small chance of a coastal wintry shower in the south of Devon. Dry and very cold on Wednesday night with long clear spells and RSTs well below zero. Risk of icy patches and hoar frost. Remaining dry and cold on Thursday with light winds and plenty of sunshine. RSTs below zero overnight. Into Friday and Saturday, it is more likely to remain dry and cold with RSTs below zero on Friday night but there is a chance that cloud and less cold air will edge in from the north-west.
