NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN – AN UPDATE
We held our first Steering Group meeting on Monday, 25 April and will be holding our next community event on Saturday 11 June between 11.30am and 4.30pm to obtain views of the parishioners on the issues which they consider need to be addressed as part of the Neighbourhood Plan. This will help us ensure that these matters are covered when putting together the Questionnaire which will be sent out towards the end of July. We are combining this event with a cream tea in the Memorial Hall, St Anne’s Chapel which will be part of the Queen’s Birthday celebrations so hopefully we will get a good turn out.

South Hams Society AGM & talk on the coastal protection work of the National Trust
The South Hams Society’s AGM on 25th April will be followed by a talk by David Pinder on Operation Neptune , the survey and appeal which have enabled the National Trust to become easily the largest coastal landowner in the country. It owns – and permanently protects – almost 800 miles of coast. We have particular cause to be thankful for that here in South Devon.

Help required for Bigbury mermaids!
Louise Pitt – Play Group organiser at Bigbury Memorial Hall – writes:-
‘We have entered the Shrimps play group and Village Waves youth club into the Modbury carnival. We are making mermaid tails for the girls (approx 10) and I was wondering if anyone had any material that they could donate? Ideally mermaid tail colours but we aren’t fussy!
My plan is to keep it simple and let the girls cut out their own pattern. I am then looking for any volunteers with sewing machines that might be able to run a stitch around the tail and add a little elastic around the waist so that the girls can slip them on whilst on the float.
Any other ideas would be gratefully received!’
