BANTHAM ESTATE – an estuary update
In response to the widespread scepticism and multitude of rumours in circulation about different aspects of the Bantham Estate’s activities, the ACA committee met with the Estate’s owner and Estate Manager on 26th January 2016 for a full and frank discussion of matters related to the river, the estuary and associated ecology. In any changing situation there will always be doubters but the committee members were persuaded that the long-term welfare of the estuary and its environment are the Estate’s genuine, primary interests. The ACA shares those interests although our methods for satisfying them may be different.
Our members can rest assured that effective lines of communication exist between the ACA and the Estate for discussion of anything relevant to the ACA’s charitable objectives and we shall not hesitate to raise any legitimate and well-substantiated concerns with the management or, indeed, to collaborate where appropriate.
OIL COLLECTIVE – ORDER DEADLINE
This is to remind you that the next ordering deadline for oil is 12pm Wednesday 3rd February. The Community Council of Devon will be negotiating with the suppliers on the 4th/5th and the latest delivery date is anticipated to be by 18th February.
Last month the order was the lowest price for very many years at a rather amazing 22.45-22.61ppl + vat. With the price of crude oil steady or even dropping I would hope that February’s price will be similar or (maybe) even lower.
You can send your order via your co-ordinator or to me at info@ofps.co.uk.

LOCAL FOOD INITIATIVE
Hello,
I’m getting in touch to tell you more about a local food initiative which I am launching later this month.
As you know, many people would like to consume differently.
As you also know, we have some extraordinary farmers and producers in the South Hams. To make it easier for producers in the Kingsbridge area and local people to meet and trade I am setting up a click and collect farmers market.
It is called The Food Assembly : this website connects groups of citizens (the “Assemblies”) with Producers in their region. When you are a Member of an Assembly, you can order directly on the website. You buy whatever you want, whenever you want. Once a week, the community gathers in a fixed location, the Age Concern Room in Kingsbridge. You have the opportunity to pick up your products, to talk with people from Kingsbridge and the local area and to meet those who produce your food! I would love to meet you at the first Kingsbridge Food Assembly. You can see an increasing range of producers and products with many more to come on our website and hear more on our Facebook and Twitter accounts.
You can discover the rest all by yourself:

See you soon,
