Devon’s Best Kept Village Competition 2014
Seeks Competition Judges!
The Devon Best Kept Village Competition is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to be judges in this year’s competition. No previous experience of judging is necessary, just an interest in and enjoyment of Devon villages and a desire to find out what is going on in some of them.
The main of objective of the competition is to find and reward villages which are judged to be making the most with what they have in terms of – the care of private and public buildings, open spaces, other village amenities and the wider environment, as well as sustaining a vibrant community life.
Judges visit several villages during May and/or June, mark them against the competition standards and then write a short report. Judges usually work with a partner. Why not join us and bring a friend? An induction and half day training workshop, including lunch and refreshments, takes place on 18th March 2014, in Chudleigh Town Hall. Travel expenses are paid for this and all judging visits. Judges choose in which areas of Devon they wish to judge.
This is a fun thing to do in the spring and summer when Devon really bursts into life and flourishes! This is your chance to help put Devon Villages on the map!
