Many Bigbury homeowners will be using oil to heat their property, and this is widely known to be the most expensive way to heat your home. But many of us have no choice! Many families will struggle to heat their homes this year and fuel poverty is becoming a major issue in Devon.
The Devon Oil Collective is a community based, countywide bulk buying scheme. The scheme is run by the highly regarded Community Council of Devon (CCD) and supported by Devon County Council. Anybody is able to join at an annual cost of £24 which you will soon either recoup or, otherwise, get re-funded.
The main aim of the scheme is to reduce the costs of domestic heating oil for homeowners. CCD will do this by collating orders from across the county, negotiate directly with suppliers to find the best possible price and pass those savings onto the homeowners. With such a high number of households across Devon off the gas network, there is huge potential bulk buying power.
The more people we have ordering through the scheme, the greater our bulk buying power and the greater savings which can be made for them. Together we can tackle fuel poverty head on!
