A MESSAGE FROM THE HALL CHAIRMAN, CHARLES HARRINGTON:-
Dear All,
As we emerge, hopefully, from lockdown I thought it might be appropriate to give you an update on our plans to reopen the Hall.
Although the Government’s roadmap states that “community centres” will be allowed to reopen from April 12th, it seems that, initially, this will only be for the limited purposes allowed before the latest lockdown, ie for pre schooling and medical functions. This being so, we’re aiming for May 17th and already have in the pipeline several events, including a wine tasting evening, a folk duo, the annual Produce Show and at least two Villages in Action events. Obviously some of these won’t be possible until after June 21st but we hope to hold at least one event before then. All events will, of course, comply with all social distancing requirements then in force.
The Committee is meeting again to review the situation and I’ll keep you posted of progress.
Turning to another matter, after many years’ brilliant service our Secretary, Sally Watts, is standing down from the Committee later this year, so we’re looking for a replacement.
The duties are not particularly onerous and mainly involve taking and preparing minutes of Committee meetings (usually about four per year) and one or two other admin tasks.
However, there is also scope for getting involved in the other activities of the Hall, as Sally did, and helping with arranging events and generally promoting the Hall.
The Hall is a vital part of community life in Bigbury Parish and this is an opportunity to play a full part in its activities and be part of an enthusiastic and friendly team.

Regards.
Charles.
