The parish has now taken delivery of 4 tonnes of salt for the treatment of PUBLIC roads to supplement DCC’s gritting of the main roads. In this parish DCC only grits the main road through St Ann’s Chapel to Bigbury on Sea. N.B. DCC should also keep the grit bins topped up.
I have arranged a network of volunteers from around the parish who will spring into action at the first sign of cold weather to spread salt/grit from DCC bags which have been distributed to strategic points on side/minor roads. Further bags have been left by the roadside wherever I know there has been a problem with snow and ice in the past. Please note: this salt is not intended for private use or re-sale!
If you are willing to help by looking after the road in your part of Bigbury, please let me know.
If you live in a part of the parish where the road has been susceptible to freezing over in previous winters, please let me know so that salt & grit can be provided where needed.
Let’s keep Bigbury moving!
