Bear in mind, often is the case, banks will not accept forged notes and hence you may lose out entirely if taking these notes in.
Police have had a spate of reports of suspicious £20 notes being passed to various businesses in Modbury on Saturday 2 September. The banknotes are Scottish and believed to be counterfeit.
Please can all business owners be aware and check large denominations to ensure they are genuine. Report any forged notes passed to 101.
If you are suspicious, do not take the notes and note down a description of the suspect. If you have CCTV, point it out to the suspect for a clear facial shot. If the cash is left, try to handle it by the corners and place it in an envelope.
