The survey results are available here.
The ‘final draft’ Joint Local Plan for Plymouth and South West Devon has now been made available as per the link below. Section 5.10 is of particular local interest as our communities at Bigbury, Ringmore and StAnn’s Chapel have been re-classified as ‘sustainable’.
The Steering Group would like to thank all those who filled in and returned the Housing Survey and the Neighbourhood Plan Questionnaire. The Housing Survey will be analysed by South Hams District Council, and the results fed back to the Steering Group in due course to help with planning the future housing needs of the parish. The Steering Group held a meeting on 18th January to discuss the next stage in the Neighbourhood Plan process, which is to analyse the responses from the questionnaires prior to the preparation of the Draft Plan. Although we had to set a deadline for the return of questionnaires, the analysis will take some time, so there is still scope to return your completed questionnaire – please return it to any member of the Steering Group as quickly as possible! During the meeting, the numbers on the returned Plan Questionnaires received by the deadline were put in a draw. The twelve numbers drawn are as follows:
9; 131; 179; 211; 251; 295; 306; 310; 317; 343; 373; 381
To claim your prize, please take the raffle ticket you detached and kept from the questionnaire you filled in, and match it with its counterpart on display at Holywell Stores, where Hilary, Dane and staff will swap it for a bottle of wine provided by the Parish Council. Please do claim your prize by Tuesday 28th February; if you are unable to get to Holywell Stores by this date, please contact Valerie Scott on 810336 or Jill Gubbins on 810651 to make other arrangements. Only you will know if you are a winner as the questionnaires were anonymous, hence you will need your ticket to claim.
Once again, very many thanks for your participation to MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO WHERE YOU LIVE.

Mulled Wine and Mince Pies at the Memorial Hall
Following the consultations on the Bigbury Neighbourhood Plan held during the Queen’s 90th birthday celebration in June 2016 the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group have now prepared a Questionnaire in order to obtain the further views of parishioners prior to the preparation of the Draft Plan.
The Questionnaire, together with a Housing Survey, will be delivered to all parishioners with the December Bigbury News.
The Steering Group will be holding a pop-in session between 10am and 12noon on 10th December at the Memorial Hall. This will be a festive occasion including mulled wine and mince pies, and will give parishioners a chance to meet members of the Steering Group, to discuss the questionnaire and the housing survey or to help in completing these, if required.
All parishioners are welcome to attend this event whether to find out more about the questionnaire and housing survey or just to have a chat and enjoy this festive occasion.
In preparation, the Introduction to the Questionnaire can be viewed here –
Consultation has opened on the Joint Local Plan, which sets out sites for potential development for housing and employment in the South Hams until 2034, in conjunction with the Plymouth and West Devon local authorities. Please take some time to look at this important document for the future of the South Hams, and send in your comments to SHDC.
