I attended my first Parish Council meeting last week and was impressed by how it works with volunteer contributions from people who care what happens here. Volunteers are special people. I noticed that there was some angst from one person regarding a previous council decision although this person did not attend the meeting when this issue was discussed. Perhaps this brings up a general issue that not everyone feels they are involved or advised effectively – in spite of considerable efforts on the part of the Parish Council, Bigbury News and the website. In the coming weeks I would like to meet with interested parties to see if we can identify areas where we could improve on communication. I understand there will always be complaints – thats life – thats people. Complaints should not demotivate or concern us other than to identify a remedy for any underlying issues. Difficult to include 450 people in discussions but perhaps we could set some goals to measure our ability to communicate – eg number of members of the parish council website group, number of letters to Clerk, etc …how should we measure how good we are at communicating? As I will be helping Rose and Trudy with Bigbury News, I would like to take this opportunity to discuss any ideas you may have. I will then work with Stuart, Rose and Trudy to see if we can evolve to resolve. Hope this helps? Louise
