Beth has some more information about the Nepalese Night in the Memorial Hall on Wednesday 28th Feb (see EVENTS for details).
There will be a quiz, a raffle, an auction, and meal in addition to an interesting slide show of Trish and Beth’s experiences on their Himalayan trek – brilliant value, all in aid of Motor Neurone Disease and Multiple Sclerosis charities.
Details of items for auction and the raffle prizes available are listed here:- NEPALESE NIGHT 2
Well done Fiona Dukes and her team for raising the magnificent sum of £1303 at the Macmillan Mammoth Quiz night in the Memorial Hall. You must have played your ‘Joker’!
The funds will go to help the brilliant work that MacMillan does to help cancer sufferers and their relatives.
What an excellent evening’s work – so enjoyable!
Mervyn Stutter took Bigbury’s packed Memorial Hall by storm on 9th November. “Really cheered me up”; “one of the best ever performances in the hall”; “a fantastic night’s entertainment” – just a few of the many comments about a show overflowing with topical political comment, sharp observations and great wit, all to a talented musical accompaniment; some wonderful Dylan-like impersonations and Donald Trumpisms (based on Nellie the Elephant, for example)!

Following a highly successful and very popular Fish & Chip Night at Fryer Tuck’s, Challaborough, attended by a good number of Bigbury residents, Steve Comley writes –
‘I am pleased to advise that together, with considerable thanks to Steve Chapman, we have raised donations which totalled £651.66.
Thank you all so much on behalf of Ringmore Parish.
I also banked today a further £150.83 which was the total raised by Judith and Caro during their recent Art Trail exhibition.
Fantastic result and, once again, thank you to both on behalf of the Parish.
By my calculations our fund should now be standing at £2447.17.
I have passed our thanks to Steve at Challaborough whom incidentally is closing for the winter this Sunday afternoon at around 4pm prior to which, he has let slip to me, he may need to celebrate the season with friends between 12-4!!!’.
