Bigbury Neighbourhood Plan – Notice re meeting on 12 March 2016
NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN GETS GO-AHEAD
A well-attended meeting in the Memorial Hall on Saturday 5th December 2015 heard from Val Scott (Bigbury resident and planning consultant) and Lindsay Ward (SHDC Charterlands ward member) about why a Neighbourhood Plan for Bigbury would be advisable. The meeting, chaired by Bryan Carson, had been set up by the parish council in order to seek approval from parishioners to proceed with the application to SHDC and, as the first step, to designate the area that the plan would cover i.e. the entire parish. The 40 or so people present were able to ask numerous questions and make some important points about – for example – sustainability, infrastructural shortcomings and the development pressure for new housing.
The decision to proceed with a plan was passed unanimously on a show of hands. There were no objections. The complex planning process is likely to take 18 months -2 years but it was pointed out that there will be ample opportunity for interested parishioners and outside experts to contribute along the way. The community website could play an important role in discussion and communication.
Much more information about Neighbourhood Plans and the plan development process is provided on the SHDC website at:- http://www.southhams.gov.uk Val’s notes from the meeting are available here – VSNP notes Anybody interested in contributing to the plan may contact Val at valerie.scott@cgms.co.uk
